I grew up (and currently live) just a few short miles from the small town of Damascus, Virginia.
Back in the day Damascus was pure Americana, just a beautiful and quiet place where the people worked hard, raised their families and lived good, but ordinary American lives.
But over the years Damascus has become a popular destination for thousands of visitors every year due to its prime location on the Appalachian Trail and the many natural and man-made attractions in the area.
For much of the year the streets of Damascus are still fairly quiet, but during the spring and summer the town comes alive, with the population almost tripling every May during the annual Appalachian Trail Days Festival.
The short video below showcases much of what Damascus has to offer today, including some really nice video footage of the town and surrounding area.
After all these years Damascus is still a wonderful place to live in and visit. Check out the video and you’ll see why.
