If you’re a fan of Bluegrass music you’re no doubt familiar with Sierra Hull, a supremely talented musician who began wowing audiences at a very young age as a musical child prodigy.

Although Sierra is famous for her mastery of the mandolin, like most other Bluegrass “pickers” she actually plays multiple instruments.

Have you ever heard the term “Fosbury Flop”? If you aren’t into the world of “Track & Field” sports the answer is probably no.

But truth be told, this one innovation probably changed its sport more than any other in human history.

When American athlete Dick Fosbury took his odd-looking High Jump technique to the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, the spectators and other athletes laughed at him as he pulled off his first couple of wildly unique jumps.

But they soon stopped laughing after it became clear that he had taken the gold medal in the event.  [Read more…]

As you probably know by now, I love well-played instrumental music. I actually love all kinds of music, but growing up watching my dad play his guitar every day really instilled in me a deep love for instrumentals.

The late, great Jerry Reed wrote and performed one of the most popular guitar instrumentals ever. It’s titled “Jerry’s Breakdown” and it has been covered numerous times over the years by some of the world’s most accomplished guitarists. You can see a great example in this previous post.
