Since the United States is one of the largest countries in the world, one would expect it to have plenty of awesome places to visit.

The recent Artemis II mission that took a crew of four astronauts around the Moon and back to Earth brought back memories of the history-making Apollo 11 mission.

These days taking a road trip of several hundred miles is no big deal. Simply hit the nearest Interstate highway and you’re on your way.

But back in the early days of automobile travel things weren’t so simple. There were no Interstates connecting distant cities and towns and there were no exits lined with gas stations and fast food restaurants every few miles.

Back in the day, embarking on a long road trip wasn’t for the faint of heart. Today we take motor travel for granted but the folks who decided to hit the road way back when sure didn’t.  [Read more…]
