Many folks dream about retiring and spending the rest of their days in some warm and sunny tropical paradise, but there are others that make the decision to retire to a cooler locale.
If you happen to prefer cooler temps, you literally won’t find a “cooler” town to retire to than Oymyakon, Russia.
Oymyakon happens to be the coldest permanently inhabited town on our entire planet, bar none.
How cold does it get there? Well, the low nighttime winter temps occasionally dip into the -90s Fahrenheit.
And guess what? Oymyakon’s “warm” seasons aren’t exactly balmy either.
Check out the Weather Channel’s 10 Day Forecast for the period from September 18 to October 2, 2020 (which were officially the last few days of summer and the first few days of fall):
Pretty “cool”, right?
And remember, according to the calendar it was actually still summer time when this screenshot was captured.
Can you imagine living through one of Oymyakon’s VERY long winters? Just think, approximately 500 people live there year round.
I don’t know about you, but I believe I’ll steer clear of Oymyakon and retire some place where the temps tend to be quite moderate during the winter.
If I ever take a notion to “visit” the coldest town on planet earth I’ll do it by watching videos like the one below. Check it out!
