A bit of nostalgia: Do you remember smelling papers printed with a mimeograph machine?

Today’s kids won’t have a clue what I’m talking about but when I was in elementary school the handouts the teachers gave us had a smell like no other. And the print wasn’t black – it was purple.

Yep, if you’re old enough to remember when copies were made with a mimeograph machine you probably recall that semi-intoxicating smell and the unique print color quite well. 

You also probably remember how the copies would always feel a little damp to the touch if they had been made within the last few minutes.

I know some kids hated having to deal with those mimeographed  papers but I actually loved them. It’s sad in a way that today’s kids will never have that experience due to the proliferation of dry copy machines.
