Frequent flyers know there are some pretty unique (and scary) airports in various places around the world.
One airport that has always fascinated me is Princess Juliana International Airport serving the Caribbean island nation of St Maarten.
What makes this airport stand out is the extremely low landings that incoming jets must make due to the end of the runway being so close to popular Maho Beach.
These landings are so low that folks relaxing on the beach can literally feel the exhaust from the jet engines as the plane flies just a few short feet over their heads!
Wanna see one of these landings in action? Watch this short video (and be sure to watch it at full screen)…
Pretty intense, right?
Well guess what? Take-offs can be even even more intense…
Believe it or not, thousands of people visit St Maarten and Maho Beach every year with one purpose in mind: to experience the thrill of the jets’ take-offs and landings first-hand.
I have to go now. Time to book my flight to St Maarten!
