“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.” – Michael Altshuler
Have you ever noticed how the older you get, the faster the years seem to pass by? I sure have and it’s a real eye-opener.
Sometimes I feel like Rip van Winkle, the poor fellow in the Washington Irving story who fell asleep one day and wake up 20 years later.
A researcher (whose name I have long forgotten) once asked 50 people who had attained the age of 100 this question: “What is the most surprising thing that you have learned thus far during your extraordinarily long lifetime?”
Over half of the respondents answered some variation of “how quickly the years flew by“.
Every second that passes by is like a grain of sand falling through an hourglass. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
And unlike an hourglass, we can’t turn our lives over and start all over again. That’s why it’s important to make every second of your life count. Don’t waste it waiting for tomorrow because tomorrow might well never come.
To finish up, you might enjoy this short video of the real “Mr. Rogers” reflecting on his life and all the wonderful people who helped him achieve success.
If I were asked to recommend just one resource that can help one live a more fulfilling life, it would be this. (#ad)
