One of the first things we learn as youngsters is how long a day and a year is. After all, birthdays wouldn’t make much sense without this basic understanding of time. And as you surely know, kids are all about birthdays.

Here on planet Earth, one day is roughly 24 hours in length and one year is roughly 365 days.

But the lengths of the days and years on other planets are vastly different than here on Earth. And in some cases, they are mind-bogglingly different.  [Read more…]

Do you remember how long it took your birthdays to come around each year when you were a child? If your childhood was like mine it probably seemed like the next birthday would never arrive.

But something likely changed as you got older. Instead of your birthdays taking their sweet time in making their arrival, they began coming in bunches. For me, it seems like I now have about three birthdays per year!  [Read more…]

Chances are you know someone who never seems to show up on time.

Whether it’s a business meeting, a college class, a church service or a doctor appointment, they always seem to arrive five minutes after things have already gotten started.

The purpose of this post isn’t to chastise those folks. Some of the people I most admire and some of the most successful people I know have issues with punctuality.

But that being said, I believe it’s best to always strive to be on time. And truth be told, being a little early is even better.

In case you haven’t noticed, we all have our own likes and dislikes.

For example, my dad loved to fish, and he spent a large percentage of his time on earth sitting on the banks of nearby rivers and ponds doing just that.

But me? Well, I’d rather do just about anything besides sit and keep watch on a fishing line, hoping to possibly, somehow, at some point “get a bite”.
