It’s no secret that Utah’s Arches National Park is home to some of the most beautiful and interesting natural features on our entire planet. It also happens to be a photographer’s paradise.

If you do a web search for the term “Arches National Park” you’ll find thousands of photos and videos showcasing the natural beauty to be found there, but of all the ones I have seen, I love the video I’ve featured below the most.

Time-lapse video of North America at night (from aboard the ISS)

A while back I shared this spectacular time-lapse video of our planet Earth at night.

The photos used to create that video were taken from the International Space Station as it made its orbit around the globe.

If you’ve been reading my blogs and newsletters for a while you know that I’m a huge fan of time-lapse videos.

Unlike regular videos, time-lapse videos are created by combining many still photographs that captured the same scene over a period of time.

This process is very similar to the way cartoon artists used to draw thousands of pictures and combine them into a sort of flip-book arrangement to create an animated video.  [Read more…]

I happen to be a huge fan of time-lapse video, the technological marvel that allows us to watch events develop and play out much faster than they do in real time.

I’m also fascinated by the incredible energy, power and eerie beauty of lightning flashes and thunderstorms.
