No doubt you’re familiar with TV commercials. After all, we’re all bombarded with a seemingly endless parade of them every time we turn on the TV or fire up YouTube.
Most commercials these days range from bland and boring to patently absurd, but I recently stumbled upon one from 8 years ago on YouTube that was actually quiet well done.
In a nutshell, it’s the story of how Bertha Benz became the first person to take a long distance drive in a motorized vehicle – a vehicle that was designed and built by her husband, Carl Benz.
Mr. Benz was a great inventor, but a poor marketer who had serious doubts his new motorized vehicle could ever become a financial success in a brand new market. Determined to prove him wrong, Bertha took the car (and her two young sons) for a nice long drive – 66 miles, a distance that was much longer than the very short test drives the car had been taken on previously.
The drive was not without its problems, but Bertha handled each one of them as needed.
With that one drive Bertha Benz created the automobile industry that we all take for granted today.
The video below is just a little over two minutes long, but I really enjoyed it. As TV commercials go, it’s really well done and truly one of a kind.
Very well done, don’t you agree? If you enjoyed that, you’ll probably find this interesting as well. (#ad)
