Time-lapse Video: New Zealand and the Milky Way in 8K

If you’ve been reading my blogs and newsletters for a while you know that I’m a huge fan of time-lapse videos.

Unlike regular videos, time-lapse videos are created by combining many still photographs that captured the same scene over a period of time.

This process is very similar to the way cartoon artists used to draw thousands of pictures and combine them into a sort of flip-book arrangement to create an animated video.  [Read more…]

Ever wonder how people managed to wake up on time before alarm clocks came along?

Before alarm clocks became commonplace in homes folks still had to wake up early enough to make it to work or school on time. Have you ever wondered how they managed to do that?

I did some research into this topic and discovered that there used to be an actual profession in which people called “Knocker-Uppers” would go from door to door and wake the workers and school children of the household up.

How to quickly fix a sticky lock

Do you have a door, a cabinet or most anything else that has a sticky lock? You know, a lock that won’t let you insert the key smoothly (or at all)?

If you’re like most folks the answer is probably yes.

The first thing that usually pops into someone’s mind when this situation arises is “I’ll give it a good shot of WD-40”.

Well, I’ll admit that WD-40 is awesome and it certainly has tons of great uses, but fixing a sticky lock isn’t one of them.  [Read more…]

Video: 11 year old (at the time) Trey Hensley performs at the Grand Ole Opry

I recently featured this video of an 11 year old Sierra Hull treating the Grand Ole Opry to some pretty amazing mandolin skills.

Well, Sierra isn’t the only pre-teen to ever grace the stage of the Opry. A young man by the name of Trey Hensley also performed there at the age of 11.  [Read more…]
