A little over a year ago I shared this short video that my friend Jim Hayes created while visiting Backbone Rock in rural Johnson County, Tennessee.
That video prompted a bunch of questions and comments because “the rock” is such a fascinating natural feature. It also happens to be located just a few miles from my home.
Today I’m going to share yet another short video featuring Backbone Rock, but this one includes a scenic drive across Holston Mountain and through the beautiful community of Shady Valley.
This video is courtesy of Friday’s Forever, a fantastic YouTube channel that has also published videos featuring nearby Mountain City, Tennessee and Damascus, Virginia, two small, but very beautiful and historic towns located here in the heart of the southern Appalachian Mountain region.
Mike and Karen (the husband and wife team behind Friday’s Forever) are local folks and their channel features lots of videos of places and attractions that are just a short drive away from the Tri-Cities area of northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia.
As you’ll see in the video, Johnson County, Tennessee is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and Backbone Rock is a true wonder of nature.
Watch, and enjoy…
