Dogs tend to be happy creatures by nature, but I believe the happiest of all are shelter dogs who are lucky enough to be adopted into a loving home.

Funding and personnel shortages result in many shelter dogs ending up being euthanized instead of adopted, and that’s a real shame.

With very few exceptions, these animals are just as friendly and loving as the ones you’d find at a pet store.  [Read more…]

I have always been inspired by those rare individuals who have the talent, drive and intestinal fortitude required to take a common skill to an incredibly high level.

If there’s one thing we can say about Scottish bicyclist Danny MacAskill it’s that he certainly has plenty of courage, skill and “guts”.

Check out this awesome short video that showcases Danny’s amazing mastery of the bike as he methodically conquers the gorgeous, but rugged terrain of Scotland’s Isle of Skye.

If you’re a student of American History you’re well aware of how Presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson helped create our wonderful nation and set it on the path to freedom.

After helping form the new country known as the United States of America, Adams and Jefferson both went on to serve as its president.

The influences these great men had on American life and traditions are still evident today.

Both Adams and Jefferson lived long and consequential lives, but the date of their deaths is quite intriguing in its own right…

Never Broken: The Navajo Code Talkers

Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 thrust the United States into the middle of World War II, and right from the start the American forces faced a major problem.

Every code the American cryptographers devised was quickly broken the Japanese, resulting in numerous casualties that could have been avoided had the Americans had a secure method for communicating on the battlefield.

After a string of failed encryption methods were tried and discarded, the Americans finally found one that the Japanese were never able to break.  [Read more…]
