How to quickly fix a sticky lock

Do you have a door, a cabinet or most anything else that has a sticky lock? You know, a lock that won’t let you insert the key smoothly (or at all)?

If you’re like most folks the answer is probably yes.

The first thing that usually pops into someone’s mind when this situation arises is “I’ll give it a good shot of WD-40”.

Well, I’ll admit that WD-40 is awesome and it certainly has tons of great uses, but it isn’t the best solution for fixing a sticky lock.  [Read more…]

Did you hear about the terrible blizzard that struck Hawaii back in 2021?

No, I didn’t horribly misspell North Dakota, Minnesota or Alaska. I really did mean Hawaii.

As I mentioned in this post, the big island of Hawaii receives snow on its two highest volcanic peaks every winter, and the winter of 2021-2022 turned out to be quite a doozy.

If you have ever remodeled a home you’re probably familiar with the process of adding new electrical outlets in places where no outlet has existed before.

This is usually accomplished by either running the wires before new drywall is installed or feeding the wire into a finished wall either from the attic or the basement/crawl space.

I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. That neatly coiled cord quickly turns into a snarled mess when you start unwinding it and stretching it out.
