Throughout much of recorded history castles played a major role in protecting both royalty and supremely wealthy families from attacks by marauding armies and gangs.

Many of the castles of centuries past now stand as stark ruins while others have been completely destroyed by attackers and/or the elements.

I’m sure you’ve probably heard astronomers use the term “Light-Year”, but do you know what that term actually means?

The use of the word “year” makes it sound like “light-year” would be used to measure time, but in reality it’s a measurement of distance.

Google was once for sale for $750,000 – and the offer was refused.

Today, Google (along with parent company Alphabet) is worth approximately $2 trillion, but back in 1999 Google’s founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin offered to sell the company for just $750,000, which is mere pocket change compared to the company’s current value.

Page and Brin made that mind-blowing offer to Excite CEO George Bell, who carefully considered it but ultimately decided to pass on the deal.
