As you probably know, all of our planet’s longitudinal lines (also known as meridians) converge at the geographic South Pole.
For that reason, the South Pole doesn’t have an officially designated Time Zone.
However, there is indeed a specific Time Zone in use there…
If you live in a place where snow falls in the winter you’re probably used to seeing those fluffy white flakes falling from the sky.
What you might not know is they can actually be quite large.
In fact, the largest snowflake ever reported by reliable witnesses was a whopping 15 inches in diameter!
As the earth spins on its axis, half of the planet’s surface is always facing the sun (day) while the other half is dark (night).
This line where day and night meet is called the terminator, and it’s quite interesting indeed.
